Personality:
1) Tell us about who your character is and what someone's first impression would be upon meeting them.
📌 At first glance Joshua Rosfield holds a noble air about him. He's of royal blood, through and through. He has the impression of a scholar or a prince who is both soft and studious. He is often well-spoken and polite and minds his manners at all times. He is considerably serious and somewhat shy although his smiles are sweet. He is often described as considerate, intelligent, bright-eyed and gentle. A prince anyone would be proud to call their own.
Joshua is also a very chivalrous and helpful person. Just like his father, he was raised to care for people to provide for them and to be a prince truly deserving of a crown. He is a selfless and kind person, and he does not hesitate to use his powerful healing magic on others who might need it regardless of how weak it will make him in return. He genuinely cares for the safety of others and is invested in protecting people who may not be able to protect themselves. He has a redoubtable sense of right and wrong, often not afraid to do what's right and to help those in need. Although on the flip side if he finds someone to be abhorrent he will also do his best to fight.
He constantly fights for a world where people may be free. He is deeply opinionated and hard-set on studying everything he must know in order to achieve this. He is often hungry for learning and has a picturesque memory. He enjoys discovery, history and learning. Perhaps after spending so many years in the dark halls of the Undying studying everything he can get his hands on it's become a hard habit to kick.
2) What is a driving force your character has? What goals do they have, what motivates them, etc?
📌 Joshua's main driving force is to undo the wrongs that have been wrought on the people closest to him and on innocent people both dead and alive. He wishes to make the world better than Rosaria's fate. Much like his father and his brother Clive Rosfield, Joshua strives to make a world where humanity can live as they will. He wants a world free of magic and oppression and a world in which humanity relies on its own two hands. He wishes to drive the darkness from the world no matter the cost. And he does everything in his power as the Phoenix to lend the world his strength to make this dream come true.
He is also motivated by the desire to help his brother. He cares deeply for his brother and wishes to stand by his side on the journey to save their world. He often blames himself for the grief and pain that Clive has suffered because of Joshua's own presumed fate and wishes to somehow make up for that. He knows that he put his brother through so much turmoil when he had to hide from him. So, if he can support Clive in any way that he can, he will. He knows he has to be the one to help Clive realize that he has a fate larger than the stars.
3) What are their flaws as a character? What is something they've messed up, or have done that they regret?
📌 Joshua's biggest flaw is that he often suffers in silence. Ever since he was a child he has had the weight of his family, the Phoenix and his duties as a prince of Rosaria on his shoulders. He spends most of his life shouldering the burden of these things for others so that others close to him may not feel the weight. He takes on his responsibilities with pride and a straight face no matter how much he might be struggling inside.
And unfortunately, Joshua is often described as stubborn too. Once he has made a choice it's not often that he takes it back. He is stubborn about his health, often ignoring it for greater matters at hand. To him, his life is a mere speck on the grander picture and he puts all of his efforts into the end result rather than his own health. He is also very stern about his own personal opinions and will say them as well. And while he may be the younger of the two Rosfield brothers it is often said that Joshua is the harder one to command.
Although he does regret putting the strain of that on his brother. Having spent years in hiding and keeping his existence a secret from his brother for his own safety has always been a regret that Joshua wishes he could undo. For years his brother thought that he had killed Joshua when it was Ultima alone that orchestrated the fated Night of Flames and it was because of the power of the Phoenix and the sect of the Undying that Joshua did survive. But due to Ultima's ever-looming threat, it was made that Joshua was to keep his existence a secret until the time was right. Every day Joshua is apologetic for putting Clive through such terrible anguish with the thought that he killed his own little brother. And every day Joshua hopes to make up for that and support his brother as best that he can.
4) Optional: What is something unique and interesting about them, or what is a fun little tidbit that sets them apart from the crowd?
📌 While Joshua is almost thirty years old he has a sense of naivety about him. Since he was essentially raised by a cult he lacks some real-world experiences. He cannot stomach the taste of alcohol and has never been in a romantic relationship. That can make him particularly shy or overly bookish and storybook-like. Even to the point of thinking it fine to kiss a maiden's hand like a knight would a princess. He's learning.
Abilities:
📌 Fire magic: Joshua has the ability to command fire magic at will including the ability to use it as a following light source. He can cast various types of classic fire spells such as firaga and use his fire in various forms such as strings of fire or as projectiles.
📌 Healing/Support magic: He possesses incredibly strong healing magic, able to cast a full-strength curaga spell even as a child. He continues to have the ability to use powerful fire-based restorative magic. He can also create fire barriers for protection.
📌 Swordplay: While not as proficient as a true knight Joshua can use a sword well. He chooses a longsword as his weapon of choice.
📌 Phoenix: Joshua is the Phoenix Dominant which grants him the ability to prime. He is able to call upon the power of his Eikon to transform into a powerful phoenix capable of flight and aerial battle. Includes all fire and healing magics in this form at a grander scale.
Phoenix has the ability to combine forms with Ifrit to create Ifrit Risen. A combination of two dominants of fire for devastating power. It combines Phoenix's ability for flight and long range combat with Ifrit's immense physical power.
Upon entering Escordvi Joshua's powers as a dominant will be restricted. He will still be able to prime into the Phoenix but will appear in a much smaller state and with less power until his powers have been fully restored. As he has not given up his Eikon to Clive at his current canon point he will be able to fully prime with time.
📌 Ultima's Echo: While not necessarily an ability, Joshua has an echo of Ultima's darkness locked inside of his chest. It constantly weakens Joshua and poisons his body with dark magic. While it is unclear exactly what the echo does to Joshua it can be assumed that it merely weakens Joshua's power and body as he fights to keep Ultima at bay.

Corsairs. Primarily because this is where his brother and Jill Warrick are going. But furthermore, Joshua has come to cherish the ideals of being free. The corsairs believe in freedom and living for adventure and discovery. All of which Joshua is interested in. As a Corsair he will be excited to discover new islands and find new things, research and collect lost artifacts and make ancient discoveries. All while being where his brother and Jill may be.
