[Joshua nods. It's a novel that is a little out of the box but he enjoyed it very much.
As for the other books, Joshua does move aside slightly so Dion can browse his collection. It's nowhere near as huge as Kaveh and Alhaitham's collection but it is impressive too.]
There are a few that you may-
[He reaches up, and accidentally knocks two books off the shelf that go tumbling to the ground. One of them being... Dragon Heat. An erotic smut novel..........]
[Dion moves to catch them, reflexes aiding in his lunge so that at least one doesn't hit the floor, the one being a very provocative...novel? He thinks it's a novel.]
[He stands there with the embarrassment churning in his stomach. Yes, Joshua Rosfield has read some adult erotica. And he's enjoyed reading them, too. He cannot take it back now that Dion has seen it. But perhaps he'll hide them better...]
Despite that, it does have a ... compelling story. May I have it back?
[Please do not tease him further... He already wants to perish into dust.]
[He chuckles, but offers the book. Dion Lesage is many things, but certainly not cruel.]
Compelling, indeed. I've no doubt the characters are nuanced and well-rounded. Have your fun, Joshua. It is not business of mine from whence your entertainment rises.
[He places a hand over the cover of the book he was given.]
[The relief he feels when Dion hands it back. His cheeks are still very much pink. Dion knows this little secret now. Although, he hadn't really kept it a secret at all since the book had been on his shelf. It's a very popular book series! There just happens to be a lot (a lot) of sex scenes.
If Dion truly wanted to borrow it, he would probably allow it... But. He quickly goes back to the topic at hand. Ahem.]
I... Yes, it is a sword. If I told you more, it'd spoil the surprise. Best you read it yourself and see what happens.
[He turns back to his shelf to return the book and grab a few other miscellaneous stories.]
Are there any other themes or genres you might be after? High adventure, a touch of the arcane?
[He might still be teasing, but only slightly. He cannot say he's interested overmuch in the fictional coupling of a sword and its wielder.
And he lets the subject drop, looking thoughtfully off into the middle distance.]
I read a pirate adventure not long after I arrived titled Fortune Atoll, about a young lad who stowed away on a ship bound for a legendary treasure. I rather enjoyed it.
[Joshua laughs, although it's still with the same embarrassment in his cheeks. He's never going to live this down, is he?]
Dion...
[He reaches up for another book.]
Then a few classic pirating adventures. Those, I can do. [He's going to reach for a few more novels and plop them into Dion's hands.] With no secret surprises.
[He happily accept the pirating adventures, living vicariously through their sojourns in the high seas, though he can easily have his own. He enjoys those, too.]
Oh, but if the surprises bring such color to your cheeks, I might enjoy them.
[Joshua can't help the soft laugh that escapes his lips. He nods quietly, thoroughly amused and flattered by this little moment. Even if it's to Joshua's embarrassment.]
Just that book, then. For now.
[There.]
And do be careful not to lose yourself in it for hours. I've spent many a night awake poring over those very pages. It is hard to put down.

Joshua, what precisely is the plot of this novel?
no subject
This one may... may not be to your tastes.
[How is he supposed to even start to explain that it's a smut novel about sexy dragons-]
no subject
He raises an eyebrow as Joshua takes the book, but doesn't resist relinquishing it.]
So quick to be certain? I've read so little for leisure I can hardly call myself an expert on my own taste.
no subject
It is a ...
[He clears his throat. And says quietly under his breath.]
A book with more ... mature tastes. [...] Not to say that you are not mature? What I mean to say is ...
[Oh, he's bombing this.]

[He raises an eyebrow before moving quickly to snatch that book back from Joshua only to flip through it, allowing his eyes to browse idly over the pages, catching sight of a few risquΓ© passages.
More than a few-
Eyebrows raised, ears colored, he closes the book again, but waves it, as though for emphasis.]
Joshua. This is erotica.
no subject
Yes... I know.

Joshua's cheeks flare rosy pink again and he stares at Dion before glancing away shyly.]
You need only ask if you want those surprises.
no subject
Only if you're to discuss it, but for now I'll accept the book.
[And he pats the spine of the first he was handed.] This book.

[And he smiles again, unable to avoid it with the swelling of warmth in his chest just speaking with Joshua seems to bring him most days.]
I thank you, Joshua.
no subject
You are always welcome, Dion.
π
[A nod.]
Good day, Joshua.
